1. Scope of Application

1.1 Equipment Model: Elco-OSM4x-485

1.1.1 Device Sequence

The distance sensor's 485 communication cable is connected to SRC2000 on TE23 for the 485 communication. Multiple groups of devices with different IDs can be combined together, and different devices can be connected after setting parameters respectively.

1.1.2 Electricity Supply

10 to 30 volts DC

1.1.3 Button Description

TEACH: Press and hold the Menu key for 3 seconds to switch to the menu, and then hold for another 3 seconds to switch to the display page.

UP: Move to the next page

DOWN: Page Up

1.1.4 Device Version

The device version should be rb.07 or above. If it is not, please contact the merchant to upgrade.

  • View Version Method

    1. Simultaneously press the UP and DOWN keys for more than 5 seconds. The interface will display Lc.oN. Release the keys.

    2. Press and hold the UP and DOWN keys for more than 5 seconds for the second time. The interface will display Lc.FA.

    3. Then press the TEACH and DOWN keys at the same time for more than 5 seconds. Enter the manufacturer menu and press the UP key. The interface will display v1.XX, which is the version information. This is the internal setting menu of the device. Do not perform other operations, just look at the version.

    4. After viewing the version, press the TEACH and DOWN keys at the same time again for more than 5 seconds. You can return to the display page.

3. Configure Device Parameters

3.1 Configuring As Polling mode

To avoid configuration failure, repeat the configuration process twice. Once the configuration is complete, verify if the parameter has been successfully set.

3.2 ID Configuration

Display the menu by pressing Adr, and navigate to the submenu by pressing TEACH.

The submenu is initially displayed as 0. Press UP/DOWN to adjust parameters step by step with a value of 1. Long press the UP/DOWN key for 3 seconds or more to increase the step value to 10.

Press the TEACH button to confirm and return to the upper-level menu. The value ranges from 0 to 255. The initial address is 0, and 255 indicates the broadcast address.

3.3 Baud rate

The baud rate is equal to 115200.

Display the menu with bAud, press TEACH to go to the submenu.

The submenu is initially displayed with a value of 115.2. Press UP/DOWN to adjust the parameters. The baud rate settings include the following options:

2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, and 115200 bits per second. The menu displays kilobits per second.

3.4 Indicator Setting (Prompt Effect Only, Not Without)

Display the menu with SEn5, press TEACH to access the submenu.

The submenu is initially displayed as LP1. Press TEACH to find the minimum detection distance of 150mm. Place the object at this distance and press TEACH again to show that it is good.

Effect: The indicator light will turn on within the effective detection range of 150mm to 800mm.

3.5 The configuration parameters take effect after the power-on

Elco-OSM4x-485 has a distance detection range of 150mm to 800mm.

  • id: The value must be identical to the device ID.

    • Brand: Elco-OSM4x-485

  • ComID:

    • Corresponds to ComID 5 485 Communication 4 (Default configuration, not mixed).

    • Corresponds to ComID 4 485 Communication 3.

Note: Before using the host computer, you must contact the manufacturer to obtain the registration code. Here, only the basic operation of the host computer is demonstrated without using the host computer configuration.

Note: The reason for the difference in software version displayed on the computer and the device screen is due to the decimal display on the computer. The display on the device's digital tube should be considered accurate.
